Florence Attwood
Florence Attwood was an extremely talented designer from Chad Valley and was responsible for the first 32 patterns in Merrythoughts premier line in 1930. Up until her death in 1949, Florence was still their Chief Designer, more remarkably is the fact that Florence managed to form a sucessful career for herself as she was infact a deaf - mute.
Teddy Girl
Colonel Bob Henderson was given his first Bear, a Steiff cinnamon Teddy, when he was a baby in 1904. He named her - Teddy Girl - and she accompanied him on active service during WWII, after which, he dedicated his life to collecting Teddy Bears. By 1962 he had founded the Teddy Bear Club, and would later be running the UK branch of Good Bears of the World - a charity that sends Teddy Bears to Children in need Worldwide.Teddy Girl was sold at Christies of London in December 1994 to Japanese businessman and founder of the Teddy Bear Museum in Izu, Japan - Yoshihiro Sekiguchi. He paid the highest price ever paid for a Vintage Teddy Bear ... £110,000.
