Old Bears Everywhere

Farnell

J.K. Farnell first opened their doors in 1840 as a household good manufacturer, before lending their talent towards the production of Bears. Some even say that they were the first to create a Teddy Bear and not Steiff, but there is no evidence to support this. After the death of founder John Farnell, his children Agnes and Henry began a Soft Toy Company in their home in West London. They decided to use the trade name Alpha after WW1. Made from Yorkshire mohair, these fabulous Bears featured in showrooms in London Paris and New York. Unfortunately, in 1934 the factory was destroyed by fire, yet a year later they were back in business. They are most known for being the creators of Christopher Robins much loved companion - Winnie the Pooh.
