The name Kosen comes from the place of manufacturer - Bad Kosen, and was initially founded as a prestige Doll manufacturer in 1911/12 by entrepeneur Kathe Kruse, whose growing production ensured employment for over 100 workers. In 1949 Kathe decided to open another company, together with her children and work began on her premier Plush Animals lines.
These fabulous life-like cuddly toys were first shown at the Leipzig Trade Fair in 1959, as secondary counterparts to Kathe Kruses much recognised dolls. Thanks to the high demand in orders for the new plush creations, she decided to put all her efforts into her new products, and began expanding with more employment opportunities affording a 50% increase in staff.
Today, Kosen still strive to make the very best. Their designers observe the animals for their latest designs in the wild or captivity, producing several life-like sketches. Then 3d clay images are shaped and refined, before deciding on the look required. Lastly, patterns are made, and prototypes revised, until the look that was envisioned is realised. Finally a luxury plush, suitable to the coat of the animal is chosen, with detail and shading, emphasised by artisans hand painting each piece, completing the masterpiece before them.
