Schuco

Schuco was founded in 1912 in Nuremberg, and was originally a tinplate mechanical toy company. Following WWI, Schuco began producing mohair and plush teddies, some with mechanical tail levers that made heads nod up and down or side to side. It is believed that one of these Yes/No Bears made its debut at the reknown 1921 Leipzig Spring Toy Fair held in Germany.In 1924 Schuco began to concentrate more on miniature Bears, and by 1927 they added ingenuity to the mix, resulting in their - Compact Bears -. Miniature mohair Bears complete with internal perfume holders, manicure sets, mirrors and lipstick holders. These elaborate yet useful pieces are still highly sort after and collectable today.
